Here’s the challenge: eat only unprocessed food for 30 days.

Sound hard? Kinda doable?

When I heard about Andrew Wilder’s October Unprocessed Food Challenge, I thought, no biggie.  I shop my farmer’s market and homemade meals, however casual, are the norm in our house.

But I also drink hot chocolate every night and dip into the occasional Green & Black’s milk chocolate bar with almonds.  There was also a cinnamon raisin bagel elevensie on the library steps just this morning.   And I have plans!  Plans for Banh Mi on a soft white baguette and a frappucino on the road to Palm Springs this weekend.

Here’s Wilder’s definition of unprocessed:

Unprocessed food is any food that could be made by a person with reasonable skill in a home kitchen with readily available, whole-food ingredients.

Frappucinos are definitely out.

Maybe this won’t be so easy.  But I’m going to give it a go, if only to find out where exactly those little processed monsters are creeping into my diet.

You in?  Please, please join me.  Let’s support each other.  And follow us on twitter so we can compare notes along the way.

The challenge starts Saturday.  What’s your last meal going to be?
