Personally I like a Thanksgiving table with a natural vibe. Save the glitz and sparkle for next month. Flickering candles and fall foliage are all you need to set a cozy, festive and elegant mood for dinner. Grab some nature to gloss up your table this time of year. Any old nature will do…
colorful garden vegetables
dried wheat bundled in a satin ribbon
a large vase of local greenery
fresh satsuma oranges or clementines
coppery gold pumpkins (ok a little shine is nice)
feathers and twigs
pears + berry branches

I’ve had this image in my idea file for 8 years. I dream about sitting down at this dinner table and eating the centerpieces! Olive pits and breadstick crumbs littering the table by the end of the night and a basket of bright yellow tomatoes as my keepsake from the evening. This is a super cute idea for inexpensive wedding decor but also a perfect centerpiece for a summer dinner party don’t you think?
Stunning, simple chic table decor courtesy of my talented pal Mary. Her husband hosted an outdoor dinner party last weekend in honor of her 30th birthday and Mary styled the table.
Long tables covered in white twin sheets, kraft paper table runner and cream candles from Ikea in jam jars.
Place setting of white china and assorted sea themed china from the couples’ collection from Anthropologie. White folded place cards add an elegant touch to casual decor.
Water bottle with stopper and water/wine glasses from Ikea. Wine and water was placed on the table during dinner for easy refills during dinner!
White china from Martha Stewart Collection for Macy’s and the napkin is the famed 49 cent Ikea dishtowel tied with a twine.
The table glowed with warmth from candles, good food and loving friends. Happy Birthday Mary!
I keep coins in old Bonne Maman jam jars, paper clips in a stubby round moutarde and our toothbrushes in a Mason-type that’s embossed with lilies of the valley. But this, this, is my new justification for all the empty jars currently holding my pantry space hostage. Won’t a cluster of these make your dinner table feel special?
p.s. Ikea sells bags of little votive candles super cheap and these pretty matchboxes house extra-long matches so no burnt fingertips.
