Lydia and I had loads of fun styling this table for The Daily Meal. We wanted to recreate the feeling of an elegant outdoor restaurant at home, so we played with my nicest indoor pieces. Using 1 set of pottery, 1 set of chargers, 1 set of flatware and 1 table we created 2 beautiful looks: breakfast in the garden with friends and an elegant candlelit dinner for two.
Here’s a close up of the breakfast table:
For breakfast we fell in love with hydrangeas in cloud colors. We set them in my favorite juice pitcher and built the rest of the look around that. The sugar and creamer as well as the napkins pick up on the beautiful sky blue petals. And what says morning more clearly than a rooster? This one is part of an antique rooster and hen pair that my aunt gave me as a wedding gift. It’s a happy table that invites you to linger over flaky croissants and chunky mugs of hot coffee.
Tell us, how would you make your outdoor table special?
Tomorrow- the dinner table!

Plate, Bowls, Mugs and Pitcher, Barre by Simon Pearce. Glasses by Juliska. Napkins and Chargers by Pottery Barn. Antique Rooster. Creamer and Sugar by Nigella Lawson. Flatware by Match Pewter.
Stunning, simple chic table decor courtesy of my talented pal Mary. Her husband hosted an outdoor dinner party last weekend in honor of her 30th birthday and Mary styled the table.
Long tables covered in white twin sheets, kraft paper table runner and cream candles from Ikea in jam jars.
Place setting of white china and assorted sea themed china from the couples’ collection from Anthropologie. White folded place cards add an elegant touch to casual decor.
Water bottle with stopper and water/wine glasses from Ikea. Wine and water was placed on the table during dinner for easy refills during dinner!
White china from Martha Stewart Collection for Macy’s and the napkin is the famed 49 cent Ikea dishtowel tied with a twine.
The table glowed with warmth from candles, good food and loving friends. Happy Birthday Mary!

Happy Holiday Weekend Y’all! Hope you have something fab in store for the following few days. Sarah has her darling sister and fabulous Aunt in town and they will be painting the town red all weekend. I am THRILLED to have almost no plans this weekend save for a mellow BBQ on Sunday.
These homemade Ice Cream Sandwiches were a big hit at last year’s July 4th BBQ, they offered the perfect retro chic Americana vibe.
Definitely planning to go the Farmer’s Market on Saturday to get a supplies for my famous Watermelon Margaritas to bring to the festivities on Sunday. Wish I had a big drink dispenser like this one from Napa Style to serve them in…
Snippet & Ink made a collage of a color combo that has me really jazzed lately… tomato and mint aka turquoise and red. Such a fresh palette for your summer entertaining.
Run a piece of turquoise fabric (any turquoise scarves lying around?) down your table and stud it with fresh ruby cherry tomatoes still on the vine or baskets of ripe strawberries and cherries. Edible, compostable table decor!
Since the weather is getting hot it’s a good time to refresh your memory on ways to save and conserve energy this summer. GP posted a great resource yesterday with a list of the Top 10 Energy and Climate Savers.
