Love this concept and the post! But how capture the LATFH-esque hipster style of, say, the plaid pants tucked into the striped sports socks? (that really made me laugh in the Hilfiger ad, as well as what the press release described as the “Portugese exchange student”! and the Mercedes convertible as the tailgating mobile: the more I look at this, the better the image gets!) Flowers in hip flasks?

Sarah

@ Vanessa–lol. I almost didn’t use this image because it’s so, well, loaded, but I too was completely drawn in.

I tried to find a cheeky rugby-striped sock wine tote to complete the look but alas, no such thing exists online that I could find.

I completely missed the flowers in the flasks..I have to go look again.

Wouldn’t this be a great Writing & Rhetoric exercise prompt?

I am all over that faux tortoise shell flatware. Must it be $200/setting? Damn my luck.

The Revol reminds me of the new Staub red pieces at Williams-Sonoma.

Vanessa

Sock wine tote?! that’s brilliant. That’s got to exist somewhere. The flask as vase idea was just just me riffing on your idea of how to convert this into a tablesetting. I confess I have a stainless steel flask engraved with HRC and my college graduation year that would be perfect. (It was a free gift at reunion.) That Hilfiger “family” is really incredible: guess they are too refined to eat at their tailgate, would it have killed them to throw in a chicken wing? I think the woman in the sunglasses has just spied your delicious steak sandwich.

Sarah

@April–I think I like the Staub even better. Good call. I think Anthropologie will get on the tortoise shell train soon with a less expensive alternative. At least I hope so :)

@ Vanessa I’m impressed you would confess to your HC flask ownership ; ) And yes, that woman in the sunglasses all the way to the left is v. hungry…if only her upbringing would allow her to admit it! xoxo
