Portland Notes: Part 1

My trip to Portland a few weeks ago was so much fun!  Portland reminds me of a small, clean San Francisco surrounded by Tahoe-esque mountains and trees. A beautiful city with a thriving food culture.

like SF surrounded by Tahoe

Below are some of my favorite pics of where we ate and drank…

Quinoa Bread with salsas

New style Peruvian tapas at Andina started our eating adventure on the right note. Quinoa studded bread with incredible salsas like passionfruit and harbanero. Bread + Salsa= Love

Andina cheesecake

Goat cheese cheesecake and many other creative desserts. One of our favorite meals of the trip for sure as the cocktails were also excellent. I’ve never seen so many dishes staring quinoa.

Oregon Coast

Thursday was spent exploring the Oregon coast.

smoked ice bourbon cocktail

After a long day if beautiful beach walks and rocky vistas we indulged in clams and frites, hand pulled mozzarella and steaks at Laurelhurst Market.

rib eye with blue cheese butter and onion rings

The signature dish is rib eye topped with blue cheese butter and onion rings. Wow.

clams and frites at laurelhurst market

Best fries in Portland in our opinion (we made sure to do thorough research into this claim.)

Little Bird interior

Friday Drew, Chris and I were transported to Paris for a lingering lunch at Little Bird Bistro.

greens with goat cheese curls

Cheese plate, arugula salad with goat cheese curls and chilled rose wine.

trout almondine

An artful play on trout almondine.

butterscotch macaroons!

Best baby butterscotch macaroons ever!!

drinks at Secret Society

Friday evening we had perfectly crafted cocktails at The Secret Society. A Victorian speak easy lounge with incredible drinks (I had a champagne cocktail as seen above) and yummy bar snacks like Parmesan & black pepper popcorn. THEN a big celebration dinner at Paley’s Place which was so lovely but not captured on film due to my clutch being smaller than my camera.

Stay tuned for Portland Notes- Part 2 for Farmer’s Market bounty and a home cooked meal of glory.

It all looks so good! My favorites are the photo of the arugula salad and this: “which was so lovely but not captured on film due to my clutch being smaller than my camera.” Ah, the harsh realities of being a female food-blogger…
