We found mini toaster waffles in the freezer section of our local large grocery store (Ralph’s or Safeway on the west coast.) I bet the big warehouse stores like Costco and Sam’s club carry them as well. This is a GREAT Super Bowl dish idea. xo,Lydia

Hey Lydia, I am Caroline Kimball’s friend from Greenville. Charleston is my heart!!! If you have a chance to hit Poe’s on Sullivan’s Island, it’s a great bar/restaurant dedicated to all things Edgar Allen Poe. Food is just burgers and such but it’s a great place to grab a drink and hang with the local flair.:) For super “southern” food, we used to hit a place called Jestine’s Kitchen. Fried Chicken, mac and cheese, more calories than you consume in a month, deliciousness. Hall’s is good steak house, great truffle fries, Mercato is supposed to be good Italian and well done on the Husk res!! Drinks on the roof at the Library at Vendue is pretty cool too. Have so much fun!!!

My husband just took me there for a birthday weekend (we live in Atlanta).

Reservations at Husk were secured (well done, hubby!) and the dinner was….good. Not Spectacular but very solid. (I’m attributing that to our ridiculously amazing dinners in the past couple months – think Alinea in Chicago-calibre!)

would definitely recommend “the bar at Husk” next door. and if you love hand-crafted cocktails, the Gin Joint is a MUST. Sit at the bar & keep the bartender, James, company.

ALSO – you MUST get up early and take a walk though the old part of town to the Battery. It’s magnificent. Stop for coffee and a breakfast treat at Baked on the way back. And if you’re looking to indulge, the coconut cake at The Peninsula Grill is unbelievable!

Lydia,
I am Drews friend from a way way long time ago (or it feels that way at least) high school. Charleston is one of me and my husbands absolute favorite cities and we go about once or twice a year. Our favorite restaurants are Carolinas, Poogans Porch, and we just dined at High Cotton a month or so ago. Very good! You must have drinks at Cypress, and get the lavender martini! The coconut cake at the Penninsula Grill is worth the calories!

Take a carriage tour…its a great way to see the city. Make sure you tell them its your first time there.

You will LOVE Charleston! Please send Drew my best.

Whiskey Sours are my “go to” drink of choice. We have meyer lemon trees and a satsuma tree in our yard here in north Florida. And of course love bourbon! Unfortunately I’m pregnant so I can’t enjoy this drink right now but OH MY GOODNESS THIS RECIPE LOOKS SO SO GOOD. This is definitely going to happen when I’m not growing a baby anymore:) Looks fantastic!!
