This time last year Alissa, Melissa and I hosted a British themed bridal shower for our friend Mary. The British part was in honor of her husband’s homeland. We used colorful tea tins as the vessels for the flower arrangements and they turned out beautifully.
The place cards doubled as favors, a duet of Sprinkles cupcake flavors in little boxes! No cake was served but each guest left with the promise of something sweet.
Pale pink dahlias and wide open tulips in a pretty blue tin. Using a mixture of different flowers and colors keeps the arrangements from feeling stuffy or too “done.”
I ordered the tea tins from PearlRiver.com, just remember to order short ones so your guests can visit over the finished arrangements.
Hot pink and soft pink play so well off this Kelly Green colored tea tin.
Stunning red tulips in a red tin! While I usually am a fan of contrasting yet complimentary colors, sometimes a monochromatic look really pops.
Magenta roses in a forest green tall tin look elegant!
Wow this one is really strong.
Deep red roses grounded the frothy pink and white tones of the other blooms.
Sweet and chic.

Stunning, simple chic table decor courtesy of my talented pal Mary. Her husband hosted an outdoor dinner party last weekend in honor of her 30th birthday and Mary styled the table.
Long tables covered in white twin sheets, kraft paper table runner and cream candles from Ikea in jam jars.
Place setting of white china and assorted sea themed china from the couples’ collection from Anthropologie. White folded place cards add an elegant touch to casual decor.
Water bottle with stopper and water/wine glasses from Ikea. Wine and water was placed on the table during dinner for easy refills during dinner!
White china from Martha Stewart Collection for Macy’s and the napkin is the famed 49 cent Ikea dishtowel tied with a twine.
The table glowed with warmth from candles, good food and loving friends. Happy Birthday Mary!

My friend Alissa and I created these gypsy-inspired arrangements last year for Mary’s rehearsal dinner. You could replicate the look of these with any flowers and any found object that can hold water to be the vase.
I saved jam jars, wine bottles and water vessels for a few months. Scrubbed off the labels and voila, free vases!
Yellow ranunculi, puffy white hydrangeas, shiny magnolia leaves set off by nontraditional elements like fresh thyme and feathers.
The dahlias in this arrangement really pop.
I love the juxtaposition of the black feathers, pink peony and the black and white anemones.
A hot pink peony and a deep purple dahlia pulled together by the chartreuse feather.
Shh don’t tell anyone but we made all these arrangements for $100 total! All floral supplies came from the Flower Mart in Downtown LA and the “vases” were assorted jars and wine bottles I saved for this very event.

I’m describing the decor for my upcoming wedding as “A J. Crew shoot in Morocco.”
The marriage of two opposites…
Preppy- think stripes, monograms, silver Julip cups, red roses and pearls.
Bohemian- think rugs on the grass, metal lanterns, drippy candles and leather poofs.
Coming together to make a beautiful whole. That’s what marriage is all about right? Let me know your thoughts and ideas for this concept.
